Let Me See...Which Letter?

I have to admit I'm looking at this tempest in the Senate and I hear the cry "Separation of church and state" ad naseum. But, I only hear it from the lefty pukes (they are are not liberals. They are libertines and lefties). Well, just a bit of research and here is the letter

Now, the question I pose is how is it that the lefty pukes take this single letter, a private letter, to a private recipient, as gospel (pun intended)as original intent for the 1st Amendment and apply this letter as original intent and are absolutely inflexible as to it's meaning and YET, they completely ignore The Federalist Papers as evidence of original intent and claim the Constitution is a living document. Except of course where this one letter proscribes resolute and intragsigent original intent.
Ah yes. The intent buffet.

Is this a fight worth fighting?

People have asked why this fight over the judiciary is important. Here is a stellar reason why this battle over the judiciary is not only necessary, but it is vital to the survival of our children and this country!

A Georgia law that prohibits "obscene" phone calls was struck down yesterday by the Georgia Supreme Court. Now, I can hear you saying "what business of it is the government's if 2 consenting adults want to carry on a lewd conversation?" Well friends, the case before the Georgia Supreme Court was brought by a 17 year old who made a series of collect obscene calls to a 14 year old girl that he met over the internet! Oh did I mention that he made those calls while he was in jail? The case was brought about when the mother got the phone bill and had the audacity to ask her daughter what the calls were about. Imagine that, a parent getting involved in their minor childs life?!?!?!?

This is why the judiciary is such an important issue.

Moby - "Making" a child gay

I found an article that is most telling about our friends on the left and how they don’t even believe the lies that they tell themselves (and us) to try to justify their actions. The article is an interview of the recording artist Moby. The interviewer is a reporter for the g/l/b/t publication Planet Out. Now before you start to worry about me, I found out about this article via World Net Daily News. It’s not necessarily that I distrust WND’s news reporting, but I always like to read things like this to get the full context of a quote.

Having prefaced it…here is the question that leads to the telling quote (emphasis in the answer is mine).

[Laughing.] That's so funny. But this next question isn't. You have always been very pro-gay, but you were gay-bashed in Boston a few years back, simply because your attackers thought you were gay. I was thinking about what kind of effect that must have had on you, but I was also wondering about what kind of an effect being gay-bashed would have on someone who was really homophobic, like 50 Cent. I wonder, if the same thing happened to him, whether it would change his outlook on gays.

I don't know, because homophobia is something I've never understood. I mean, discrimination and prejudice in general are things I don't understand, but homophobia? I've grown up in New York and spent most of my life hanging out in gay nightclubs, so I don't understand how anyone can be offended by gay culture or homosexuality in general.

As a matter of fact, I was talking to my friend Laura, who sings on the record, and we're both getting to the point where we want to start families. We're convinced that if we have children, we're going to do everything in our power to make them gay. Like maybe drinking a lot of extra soy milk while she's pregnant, or anything that would work to make that happen. I'd just rather have a really sharp, interesting, smart gay son than some big dumb hetero meathead.

YOU READ IT RIGHT MY FRIENDS!!! According to Moby, homosexuals are made, not born. The reporter from Planet Out made no move to correct him!!!!! For years, the people who have been pushing the gay rights agenda have told us repeatedly that being gay is “normal” and “natural” and “the way that God made me”. As you can see, according to Moby (and the reporter in question), that is not the case. But then again, some of us could have told you that…..

I Ain't A Clue Why We Have A Problem Here!

Just heard Hugh Hewitt on AM1280 The Patriot say at the beginning of his nationally broadcast radio show that he supports moderate and center right Republican Senators. And he then goes on to proclaim and anguish over the fact that Republicans seem to have no spine in the fight over Senate rules and the filibuster of Federal Appellate judges.

Duh!

I have urged so many people to go out and buy David Horowitz's book "The Art of Political Warfare" and read the first half.
Do you think for a minute...no, a second, that if the Demoncrats were in the majority in the Senate and the Repubs were in the minority and filibustering that the Senate rules would not be changed in a heartbeat? Hah!

When I saw a few months back the news conference where Tom DeLay, in response to all the spurious charges against him, said "I'm not going to stoop the tactics that my opponents are using." I casually said to the screen”Then you've already lost and will be out of the House."

Read Horowitz's book. He understands the enemies of liberty and their tactics.

This just in- On the way home from the office I heard Hewitt say that he'll support liberal Republican Senators as long as they support the Republican Party! And he wants to know why he again anguishes over the lack of a certain male hormone in the Republican Party?

Now is time for all good conservative to come to the aid of their party

Yesterday the Appeals Court invalidated the Personal Protection Act.
While I may go into a discussion of their decision later, I want to review how we got here and who is to blame.
In my opinion, I put this at the feet of the House Republican Caucus and Ron Eibensteiner.

My two main reasons:
1) Greg Peppin, with the caucus either approving or at least not objecting, decided that getting his wife elected was more important than keeping the Republican Majority. He left Lynda Boudreau unprotected and instead of a last minute ad buy to help protect someone who supported and got passed one of the key MN GOP platform planks, they ran ads advocating an expansion of gambling. The DFL put a target and Boudreau and no one was there to help. No help from the House Caucus and No help from Ron and the MN GOP.

2) One of the three Judge who made the ruling was no other then David Minge. That name may seem familiar since this is the same David Minge who was thrown out of office by us Minnesotans. But if you are a liberal, why bother with winning elections when you can just make the laws from the bench. So why would I blame this on Ron Eibensteiner. Since the Supreme Court ruling that allowed political party endorsement and activity for judges, people have been fighting against Ron to get something done. And Despite attempts at both the State Convention and numerous state central meetings, Ron has refused to do anything about judges except continue to form committee’s that never meet on the subject. Thus, when we had a chance to remove Minge last November, Ron did nothing. A different court – A different outcome.

If Rob Eibensteiner continues as head of the MN GOP we will continue down the path of political patronage at the house and ineffectual response to the judicial tyranny we now allow.
It is time for a change and I hope that someone will rise up to challenge before State Central so that conservatives can have a true voice in Minnesota.

Constitution??? Nah...we got ourselves RULES!

A bad back and misreading the schedule and I'm home on Sunday morning and able to watch Fox News Sunday. Sen. Cornyn(R-Tex) and one of the Gang of Four Sen. Chucky Cheese Schumer.
I'm listening to the two of them debate and they're just getting to the point where they're talking about the Constitutional option (badly misnamed by Sen. Lott as nuclear option). And what I'm hearing from Schumer (and his fellow Gang of Four) that changing the rules of the Senate is equivalent to making the Senate a "Banana Republic". In other words, rules trump the Constitution. Interesting. But not surprising coming from them. Schumer is blathering on about how the Senate is the "cooling saucer" of the government (said this 4 x's now). Schumer fumes that he and his ilk are preserving the Constitution, the spirit of the Founding Fathers, blah, blah, blah...Yah, right. And the Brady Bill protects the 2nd Amendment and of course is allowed under the 10th Amendment. As is the honey subsidy, mohair subsidy, WIC, Social Security, corporate welfare, ANY welfare...all allowed under the Constitution. I just can't find that allowance in my copy. Sorry. I'm currently looking for a Congressional and Federal judiciary copy of the Constitution

A caller on the Hugh Hewitt Show on AM1280 The Patriot suggested that 51 Senators send individual letters with notarized signatures to the President of the Senate (Dick Cheney) consenting to the nomination of Bush's judges. Hmmm...
Oh, and quick add on: the question was raised if the lefties would shut down the government over the consideration of a Senate rule change. Did you people know that when the Republicans were accused of shutting down the government in the '90's that it wasn't the Republicans? Did you know that there was a fully approved budget in front of President Clinton at the time? That it had increases across the board? Clinton refused to sign a fully approved budget because he wanted higher spending increases. So, who shut down the government?

Mixed Legacy...And The Source is WHOM?

Time and time again I think (erroneously) that some people can not surprise me anymore. And time and time again, they prove me wrong. What felony guilty plea, bar expelled ex-president said-"He's like all of us — he may have a mixed legacy." That's right, Mr. "I Need A Legacy!!!" Well, I just don't have the time and we don't have the bandwidth to go into a detailed comparision of ALL the similarities between Pope John Paul II and Bill Clinton. My lands.

Strib Stikes Again - "Pope John the Nazi"

The Strib Strikes again. Its April 2 Evening addition had the following opinion piece (hat tip http://www.anti-strib.blogspot.com/) does a brilliant job comparing the late Pope John Paul II to the Nazi’s and Communists (http://www.startribune.com/stories/1519/5325736.html). I kid you not – the Pope was no better than the Nazis according to the Strib. I submitted the following letter to the editor, although I doubt it will see the light of day.

What were you thinking? The leader of 1.2 BILLION people dies and your OP-ED board decides to insult them because their leader doesn’t subscribe to your agenda????? I am referring (of course) to your piece on the death of Pope John Paul II. To imply that the Pope was no better than the Nazis or the Communists is repugnant!

This editorial has confirmed why I (among many others) dropped my subscription to your newspaper. The Star Tribune is so hopelessly out of touch with the rest of the world. Until the editorial board finally decides to quit insulting the rest of us, they are going to continue to loose readership.

What will it take to get the editorial board of the Star Tribune to change?

"Sir, I'd Do a MILLION Push-ups, Sir!"

Well, I turned once too often and woke up at 5:45 a.m. Hit the radio button after my morning prayer and was listening to a re-broadcast of Michael Savage on AM1280 The Patriot. After my morning Bible reading and meditation, I turned on The Patriot in the living room and heard Savage talk about Terry Schiavo. It's a very quick read.
Notice the date. Now, even though I went to government schools (and never, ever called a teacher by their fist name...at least not to their face), I went and was one of the last classes that graduated before the Frankfurt School took over the curriculum. Therefore, I was taught, and learned good basic skills, including basic math (as I tell my Sunday Schoolers and BSF kids: never confuse being taught the lesson with learning the lesson. Not the same thing). Well, if I do the math correctly, Governor Bush has had knowledge of the legal precedent to protect Terry Schiavo for nearly a year and a half. (BTW, yesterday I sent an email to Governor Bush encouraging him to take action, moral action, to save Terry Schiavo).
Well, it appears that Governor Bush is doing a lot of cosmetic hand wringing. This is the near equivalent of crocodile tears. As I read, the big problem was that Gov. Bush went to Judge Greer to petition (aka beg and plead for permission from his holiness Greer) for custody for protection of Terry Schiavo in a potential criminal case. Big mistake! Asking Greer for permission? Greer?!?! Am I drinking too much coffee? Or not enough? Greer for permission? If I were the Guv, I'd drop off a letter at his worshipfulness' Greer's office saying "Dear Morte Engel; By the time you read this we've already picked up Terry Schiavo and placed her in protective custody as outlined, allowed and countenanced by and in Florida State statutes. Hope all is well. Signed "The Guv". P.S. BTW, according to those same statutes, we're sizing up an orange jumpsuit for you. Bring your own accessories and be sure to bring soap-on-a-rope...for your own protection. If you know what I mean." Crimeny Jeb! Yah don't ask for permission. And certainly not from this guy. He won't even give an order for protection to a woman who pleaded with him. And she ended up dead (http://www.yaf.org/speakers/op-ed/coulter_schiavo.html) At least act like the head of an equal branch of government! The dropped off letter would be courtesy enough. More than enough.
Yikes a ‘mighty Jeb. If the press accounts are accurate, and you've told your people to scour the statutes for a way to save Terry, and you've had the information from the Thomas More Center, I can not believe that there is not a way for you to swoop in and drop of the letter to Morte Engel. Come on! The luncheon special is a full testosterone sandwich and a bowl of cohone soup! Eat hearty! It's why you were elected...I'd like to think.

Oh...yah, Congressional subpoenas. I was thinking, whatever happened to those Congressional subpoenas anyhow? Remember those? Ordered to appear before Congress on 25 March, 2005 if I remember correctly.HHhhhhhh.....And what happens if one refuses a Congressional subpoena? Golly, ask Sammy Sosa, Mark McQwire, Jose' Conseco. So, that being said, what happened when the subpoenas were served? Greer said 'unplug 'er anyhow! A pox on the D.C. domeboys. A pox, I say!' And where's Congress now? Mulling over McQwire's refusal to testify in a satisfying way? Offending Congress in their attempts to stamp out the use of juice in MLB? Offended indeed! And rightfully so. My lands, just ask Henry Waxman of the House Government Reform Committee. His statement to the Committee regarding the use of juice (my lands, people are dying. DYING! Just read it and his concern for the potential deaths that so concern him):

Also please notice that the two statements are one day apart. I wonder when between St. Patrick's Day and St. Cyril of Jerusalem's Day he tripped over or suddenly discovered Article 1 Section 8 of the United States Constitution? Oh well. I'm looking forward to talking to my socialist buddy that I sail with and discuss the two positions of H. Waxman and the Congress. He'll fume and accuse me of abandoning federalism. And with great relish, I'll remind him a conversation we had about 5 years ago regarding the Constitution, and tell him "Welcome to Living Document Land!"
Last night, as I was fighting, and kind of winning, the format and editing battle for my first blog entry, I watched a brief portion of "Animal Precinct" on Animal Planet. The New York ASPCA officers were breaking into an apartment they had visited a few days before. The owner of 2 cats and 2 dogs promised to care for and bring his pets up to speed. He didn't and abandoned the animals. No food, no water for the cats. The dogs could at least get to a toilet bowl where the lid was up. But the water had run out there also. The dogs and cats were so hungry they were eating their own feces. The animals were removed and examined by the New York ASPCA vet. What impressed me was that there were many pictures taken for evidence. And at least twice the comment was made that the officers were going to make the case to bring felony charges (charges plural you'll notice) against the owner. The lead officer was making a felony case against this man (the pet’s owner) to have him charged, arrested, brought to trial, pay a fine and serve jail time for starving his animals. Arrest him for denying food and water to his animals. And yesterday the posted photographs of police officers arresting young men for trying to bring water to a defenseless woman who was literally dying of thirst. Arrested for denying water to animals. Arrested for bringing water to a defenseless and dying woman. Breaking into a facility to rescue starving and dehydrated animals. Preventing, by armed force, people from rescuing a dying woman. Matthew 10:29-31... not in Florida. I have absolutely NO desire to be on the losing side of an argument with the Judge of the World.
And so what on earth does this blog heading have to with the content? Years ago I joined a fraternity. Went through my pledge quarter, and at the start of winter quarter faced "Help Week". Replaced an "L" with a "p" from a previous time. Well, into Help Week, a fraternity active took over the pledge line questioning. And Tony went up the line. 11 of us, arranged by height, me being second tallest. Tony's question to each of us was "How many push-ups are you willing to do for ATO?" He started with the short end of the line. "Sir, I’d do 10 push-ups for ATO, Sir." "Sir, I'd do 20 push-ups for ATO, Sir." And so it went. Tony told each of them, after each of their pronouncements, to do their voluntary push-ups. Nine guys to my right huffing , puffing, sweating, groaning and collapsing for ATO. Tony came to me. "How many pushups would you do for ATO?" Looking straight ahead, I replied "Sir, I'd do 1,000,000 pushups for ATO, Sir!" Tony stopped, looked at me. With a very slight smile and a sideways glance said "You're good! Sit down." As pledge wienies we were NOT allowed to sit down in front of any active member. But, I had permission. Tony went on to say, with a small head nod "You're real good."
There was no way I was going to do a million pushups, even though I was a U of M varsity athlete and letterman. But boy, it sure did sound good that I'd do a million pushups for ATO. Sounded REAL good! But just, and only sounded good.
And it appears that our elected officials are willing to do at least 1,000,000 pushups for Terry Schiavo. They started with 20. When are we are going to see the remaining 999,980? Terry can't wait.

1:16 p.m.- Seems the Northern Alliance Radio Network (NARN) disagrees with me, somewhat. They take the position that sending in the troops on behalf of how the Governor sees the law and his responsibility under it is the makings of tyranny. Seems they draw a parallel between doing that and Hitler and the Reichstag being burned. They say that Hitler declared an emergency and sent in the Brown Shirts. They're right. As a student of WWII, I agree that's what he did to consolidate power from being a coalition Chancellor to becoming Fuhrer. Just one problem with the comparision: Hitler was not challenging another branch of government with an opposing interpretation of law. NARN's position is that we go out and elect representatives to fight tyranny, in this case the tyranny of the judiciary. Greer has flipped off the Florida State Legislature and the Governor when a law was passed and signed. U.S. District Judge James Whitmore flipped off the Congress and President when he refused to move on the bill passed last weekend. So, what is the executive branch of the government to do when they and the judiciary see a law quite differently? When the executive branch goes back to the legislative branch to get it correct so the judiciary finally says "OK"? And never says OK?
The originator of Savage Republicans and I just had a talk where he took me through what happened in Texas. The courts kept saying no when the people had voted for, the legislature passed and governor signed an education funding bill. And one federal judge said "Nah. Don't like it." How many times have the judges in California overturned initiatives that passed by a wide margin? Don't get me wrong. Initiative is basically a democratic form of government, which I don't favor. But it is way of taking back government. But, it is a democracy. And remember, as I heard before, a lynching and a gang rape are both examples of a democracy. We live in a democratically elected, constitutionally mandated representative republic. A lot longer than saying democracy, but very important that we say it and know the difference. Or at least say "republic" not "democracy".But, the reason that we're having this conflict is because we haven't had the rule of law (the Constitution) and a republic,but the law of men."What kind of government have you given us, Dr. Franklin?" "A republic madam...if you can keep it." R-E-P-U-B-L-I-C Mr. President, Mr. Vice President, Madam Secretary, Senator Clinton (or Rodham Clinton,or...), et al. Republic. Thank you. I'm better now...for now.

I hear the NARN lament the situation with Terry Schiavo. And at least five times repeat "rule of law". OK. Rule of law as determined by...??? I keep hearing that we're a nation of rule of law, not rule by men. Explain that to Greer and Whitmore. At the point that the judiciary says what the law is, well, at that point aren't we under the rule of men?

So, if I read the article correctly, the armed enforcers of the chief law enforcement officer of the state of Florida called the enforcement officers of the district court (sheriffs are ususally the court's enforcement officers and the law enforcement officers of unincorporated cities) to warn the local boys that the Florida state boys were on their way:"The Miami Herald says a team of Florida Department of Law Enforcement agents was on its way to seize the woman, but "stopped short" when told that local police officers would enforce a judge's order against removing her. " The conflict was on. But the locals warned the state officers of trouble. What kind of enforcement of the judge's order do you think? What if Gary Anderson made that field goal in 1999? Conjecture... ain't it grand? Seems that the FDLE was on its way to prove the NARN wrong. Though a division of the state boys says they weren't.

I thought there was a section in Federalist 45 about the courts. But I went to look in Federalist 78 (http://shop.wnd.com/store/item.asp?DEPARTMENT_ID=6&SUBDEPARTMENT_ID=22&ITEM_ID=56
"Anyone who studies the different departments of government must see that, when they are constitutionally separated from each other, the judiciary, from the nature of its functions, will always be the least dangerous to the political rights of the Constitution because it will have the least capacity to annoy and injure them." Well then, Publius, may I politely ask WHAT HAPPENED? I suspect Marbury vs. Madison. What I also find interesting is the very next sentence "The executive not only dispenses honors but also holds the community's sword." "The judiciary, however, has no influence over either the sword or the purse"(referring to a previous reference to the legislative branch)."The judiciary may be said to have neither force nor will, merely judgment. It even depends on the aid of the executive arm for the efficacy of its judgments." Really...huh...

And from Jefferson's Kentucky Resolutions of 1798:

"1. Resolved, That the several States composing, the United States of America, are not united on the principle of unlimited submission to their general government; but that, by a compact under the style and title of a Constitution for the United States, and of amendments thereto, they constituted a general government for special purposes — delegated to that government certain definite powers, reserving, each State to itself, the residuary mass of right to their own self-government; and that whensoever the general government assumes undelegated powers, its acts are unauthoritative, void, and of no force: that to this compact each State acceded as a State, and is an integral part, its co-States forming, as to itself, the other party: that the government created by this compact was not made the exclusive or final judge of the extent of the powers delegated to itself; since that would have made its discretion, and not the Constitution, the measure of its powers;"(emphasis mine) "but that, as in all other cases of compact among powers having no common judge, each party has an equal right to judge for itself, as well of infractions as of the mode and measure of redress."

3-29-05,12:36 p.m I've been thinking (an activity that some may claim, and I'd occasionally agree, can be infrequent, painful and potentially dangerous to innocent bystanders) about the started, then halted intervention by the head of the executive branch of the Florida state government (http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=43508) it occurred to me that with 160 years of laws, statutes and case law in Florida (admitted to the Union in 1845, 2005-1845=160...that basic math function from government school I'd talked about earlier) with 16 decades of laws, etc, that there is not one, even ONE law that can be twisted (oops, sorry) I mean creatively applied to take this woman into protective custody? If the Feds can take the RICO statute and prosecute Operation Rescue, there's a law in Florida that allows Jeb to act. There obviously was as evidenced by the by the FDLE being dispatched. However, there's a broader question here that I'm perplexed by: if you and I have a dispute, in a civilized manner we go to a mediator or arbitrator, usually the courts. If we dispute the government on any level, we seek resolution in the courts. Same for any government to government disputes. If the executive and legislative branches are in dispute, the recourse can be the courts. But, what of the situation where the executive and judiciary branches are in conflict? Where is the mediator between the two? According to Article 3 section 2, the Congress can slap the Supremes around (haven't seen that yet, but I'm awaiting for the time). Good Friday 2005...And God's Winnowing Floor

Good Friday 2005 and my first blog. So, I'm getting a jump on the re-launch as announced on the Northern Alliance Radio Network (http://www.northernallianceradio.com/ and AM1280 The Patriot, Saturday 12-3 p.m.) and their 1st Annual Anniversary show.

A bit of my philosophy:
I am a born again Christian. All things flow from that. Now, that being said I also need to add that I am a very poor excuse for a Christian. I certainly have feet of clay and am clear that I all too much human. I'm not terribly shy (could we imagine a blogger who would be? Well, on second thought, many can be brave where anonymity is fairly well guaranteed. Dad used to call that being brave in the living room. Depending on where they type, Dad never knew how right he was about bloggers).
Most would also call me a conservative. After much consideration (the obligatory minimum 14 seconds, as my Dad used to say), I'm doing all I can to drop the term conservative. A few years back a Christian related how a left winger was screaming "You Christians are trying to take over the country!" To which the Christian replied " Oh my,no. Not at all. We're taking it back."
I have no desire to conserve what's here. Why preserve a decayed body? As I said during the 2000, 2002 and 2004 campaign, my idea of liberty is not slowing down the growth of socialism and decay of liberty from a Wellstonian 189 mph to a mere 97 mph and call that conservative progress. I want freedom, liberty. And all the risks and responsibilities that liberty entails.
In the movie "Gladiator" before Maximus battles Tigris of Gaul, as he is walking up the ramp, he turns to his fellow gladiators and says "Marcus Aurelius had a vision for Rome. This is not it.THIS-IS-NOT-IT!" As I read my pocket Constitution, the Federalist Papers, the Declaration of Independence, listen to and read the Supreme Court decisions, come across Bible passages and reflect on Bastiat's "The Law" (a superb book that I encourage you to read http://www.constitution.org/law/bastiat.htm, written by a Frenchman 155 years ago in response to the birth and raise of French socialism), I realize that what we have is not what the Founding Fathers envisioned for us. What they had envisioned for us,bled for,died for,risked everything for, that is what I want.
This blog, my blog, will be about local, state, national and international issues and topics.
No one is safe from my observations...including me. Left wingers, right wingers anyone. The Savage Republican motto "Crushing liberals, left and right" is a warning that just being a Republican does NOT mean that one is a conservative... sorry, I mean liberty lover. Far, far too often I hear the term Republican and conservative used interchangeably. Can anyone say Olympia Snow? John McCain? Christie Todd Whitman? Class? Class? Lincoln Chafee? Arlen Specter? Again class? Anyone? Class?
I reserve the right to be wrong, incorrect, change my mind and tell you "Now that I think about it..." or "It appears that I was..." and the always pointed "What was I thinking, assuming that the mental process that I was involved with at the time could possibly pass for thinking?" Some of my most belly-busting laughs have been at my expense.
But, today is Good Friday and a deeper introduction can, and should certainly wait-
"WE hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness -- That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, "
And what is this instituted government doing to protect the first listed of these self-evident, God endowed unalienable rights for Terry Schiavo? One branch of government has deferred not to her expressed wishes, but the hearsay, anecdotal, late remembered musings of her estranged husband. Well, for my Ockham's razor I prefer the first sentence of the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence (see above).
Many would say "Well, this is a complicated case and situation." Aaahhh...no. It's a very simple situation that's been made complicated. And the irony of the opening of the Declaration of Independence and the quote from John Adams regarding the Declaration (this is for all of you who keep carping that the Founders were deists and not Christians) :
“Is it not that the Declaration of Independence first organized the social compact on the foundation of The Redeemers’ mission upon earth? That it laid the cornerstone of human government upon the first precepts of Christianity?” -John Quincy Adams
And all this on the day we Christians celebrate the fulfillment of The Redeemers mission on earth. The day The Giver of Life gave up His life that we may live again. Fully. With liberty. Reconciled to God the Father as full sons and daughters as Jesus is. Reconciled to Jesus the Son as full brothers and sisters.
And when we ALL appear before Jesus on Judgment Day, how will we give account for what we did, or did not do, for this innocent, vulnerable and helpless sister of ours?

To the left we have a picture of Joshua Heldreth, 10 years old, of Charlotte, NC. He is being arrested for trespassing. And the genesis of the trespassing charge? He was attempting to enter Woodside Hospice in Pinellas, Fl to give Terry Schiavo a glass of water.
I count at least four armed deputies, with extra clips of ammunition, mace and handcuffs to arrest a 10 year old boy for trying to give a drink of water to a dying woman. The Good Samaritan would be risking life without parole if he ventured into this situation.
So, let me ask-the powers of the instituted government here are protecting what exactly?

Gabriel Keys, same charge as Joshua. I'm sure that the armed deputies were relieved with the lower level of danger presented by Master Keys as compared with Master Heldreth as evidenced by only 2 armed deputies taking this desperado and dangerous scofflaw into custody. Little did I know just what danger a glass of water presented to the deputies and those at the hospice. Trust me, I'll have new and cautious respect for my morning shower.
Sarcasm aside, it occurred to me that Terry Schiavo is a winnowing event from The Lord for America. We are on His threshing room floor. The Lord is weighing us in His balance ... and I greatly fear that we are being found grossly wanting. The Lord is gracious, long suffering and incredibly patient...but not infinitely patient.
